The main door is one of the most important features and it should be safeguarded at all costs. If the Feng-Shui of the main door is flawed, the bad luck caused is severe.

1- The main door of your house should not open directly facing the toilet. If it does, then any good fortune entering your home will get flushed away.
The best way to handle it keep the toilet closed at all times.

2-The main door should never face a staircase directly.
Hang a wind chime in the center of the wall just above the door on the outside. Best solution to it create a barrier that block the view (placing the plant/table) of the staircase altogether.

3-The main door should not have a toilet place above it on the upper level.
If it is like this change the location of the door or use another door as a main door.and even this is not possible, try not to use the toilet upstairs.

4- A solid front door can make a huge difference to your life. This will make everything much stronger and more stable.

5- The wall opposite to the main door should always be solid. There should not be any door or window on the opposite wall of main door.
This ensures that chi which comes into the home has a chance to settle and accumulate there for the benefit of the resident.

Useful Suggestions

1-Do not construct kitchen, toilets and puja-room next to one another.

2-The kitchen should not be directly in front of the main door.

3-Keep no broken mirrors in the house.

4-Mirrors, sinks, wash-basins and taps should preferably be along the NE wall.

5-Avoid having garbage dump, street-light pole, or boulders in front of the main gate or door.

6-Your main door should not be opposite the main door of another house.

7-The number of doors and windows should be more on the ground floor and less on the upper floor.

8-The image of Gajalaxmi at the main door is considered auspicious.

9-The north-east corner is the face house and should always be kept clean.

10-While swabbing the floor with any disinfectant, a little sea salt should be added.

11-Construct the front door in such a manner as to avoid the fall of a shadow on it.

12-Grow a tulsi or basil plant in front of the house.

13-Do not have any cactus in the house. Having it outside the boundry is good.

14-Rain water or drainage should flow towards NE-East-North.

15-Material to be used in the construction activity should always be new, expect in the case of renovation.

16-Elderly people are always more comfortable in the South-West corner.

17-Walls along the SW should be thicker as compared to walls along the NE.

18-Bhumi-pujan ceremony should be performed before commencing on the construction of a new house and Griha-pravesh ceremony before shifting into it.

19-Do not have a toilet or puja room under a staircase.

20-A well in the middle of a house or plot is very inauspicious.

Vaastu for Dining Room

1. Vaastu shastra says the dining room should be located on the west side of the house.


2. If the kitchen is on the ground floor, the dining room should not be on an upper floor but should also be located on the ground floor.


3. The door leading into the dining room should be on the east, north, or west side of the room. It should not have arches.


4. The house’s main entrance door should not face the dining room’s door.


5. It is best to face east or west while eating. The head of the family should face east during meals. Other members of the family can face east, north, or west, but it is not advisable to face south.


6. As per Vaastu shastra the dining table should not be round or oval but either square or rectangular. It should not fold from the wall or be attached to the wall.


7. A sink can be located in the northeast corner of the dining room, or on the north or east sides of the room.


8. No toilets should be attached to the dining room.

Vaastu for Study Room

1. The study room should be located on the west side of the building, but should not be located in the corners of the house.
2. When using a library or study, it is best to sit facing east or north.
3. The bookshelves should not be in the northwest or southwest corner.
4. Books should be in the east, north, or west sides of the room.
5. The door should be two-shuttered and should be located in the northeast, north, or west.
6. Windows can be set on the east, north, or west walls.
7. The walls should be painted white, sky blue, cream, or light green.

Vaastu for Bed Room

1. The master bedroom is preferred in the Southwest or South since it is considered to be cool place.


2. Avoid constructing the master bedroom in the Northeast direction. Southeast is also not recommended for this room.


3. While placing mirror in your bedroom see to it that no part of your body is directly visible in the mirror while sleeping. Because that part of your body might face health problems e.g. if your head is visible in the mirror while sleeping it may cause migraine or if your legs are visible then you may face problem such as joints pain, etc.


4. Always keep your feet away from the main door, while sleeping it should not face the main door.


5. Place the bed in the Southwest of the room but it should not obstruct the door of the room.


6. Do not sleep keeping your head towards the north.


7. Avoid having bedroom near the drawing room.


8. Always keep room well-maintained, along with some scenery. Keep it well-lit and pleasant looking.


9. Always sleep with your head towards south.


10. See that the bed never touches the wall.

Vaastu for Kitchen

1. The best location for the Kitchen is the Southeast.


2. Kitchen located in the North or the East does tend to cause financial troubles.


3. The women folk should be facing the East while doing their cooking. This is good for health.


4. There should be abundant use of green in the kitchen. For example green granite for flooring or green pictures. This helps improve the appetite of the family members and also promotes peace and harmony in the house.


5. If possible, the cooking gas and the washing sink should not be kept very close to each other. The logic being fire and water are not comfortable close to each other.


6. The cooking stove should not be visible to the naked eyes from the outside. Hence always shield the kitchen from the outsiders.


7. There should be no leaking taps in the kitchen. This affects the money flow.


8. Wall Clocks should not be placed on the South and Southwest walls.


9. Kitchen is the best place to have your daily meals; but never face South while having your meals it creates stomach disorders, indigestion and other related problems.

Eight Directions

1. North East or Ishaan Kon (Water): Pooja room, water storage tank, boring, lawn, portico, Drawing room, water supply connection.


2. East: Main gate, living room, bathroom, kitchen, guestroom, open space, balcony, Tulsi plant.


3. South East or Agni Kon (Fire): Office, fire, toilet, plants, basement, stairs, generator / inverter storeroom, clothes.


4. South: Bedroom, room to store heavy articles like machines etc., overhead water tank, big trees, godown, toilet, paying guest / tenant.


5. South West or Nairitya Kon (Earth): Arms and ammunition, room to store raw materials, sleeping room, room for father or elder brother, stairs, overhead water storage tank, trees.


6. West: Dinning room, septic tank, stairs, water storage tank on the ground, toilet cum bath, drawing room, living room.


7. North West or Vaayaya Kon (Air): Cattle and animals, grains storage, kitchen, living room, stairs, medium sized trees.


8. North: Treasury, finished material store, reception room, children’s room, recreation and entertainment room, gas plant or connection, swimming pool.

Vaastu Doesn't Allow

1- Plants like cactus or related plants should never be kept in the house.
2- Plants with red flowers and bonsai of the trees are not allowed in the house.
3- Avoid plants in the north east corner of the house.
4- Avoid pots along the north and east walls of the house.
5- Avoid paintings and other wall hangings on the north east corner to keep it clean and light.
6- Avoid paintings with scary marks and evil things in your house.
7- Avoid paintings depicting scenes of Ramayana and Mahabharata.
8- Avoid nude paintings, violent and abstract paintings with clashing colors.
9- Avoid keeping statues of gods in bedroom.
10-Avoid keeping heavy statues in the north east corner of the room.
11-Never keep any stuffed animals in the house.
12-Never keep fountains and fish-tanks in the bedroom and study.

Positioning of Furniture

1- The beds should be placed more towards the southwest of the room but never in the south west corner.
2- Mirrors should only be fixed on the north and east walls. In bedrooms there should not be any mirror opposite to beds.
3- Almirahs should be placed in the southwest of the room.
4- Shoe Racks should be placed in the south-west portion of the verandah and never in the bedroom.
5- Sofa sets or chairs etc should be kept in the south and west of the living room.
6- Dining table can be placed in the north west of the kitchen. The owners should face towards the north or east while the guest should face south or west while eating.
7- Study table can be placed in the south west of the room and the person should face towards north or east while studying.
8- Heating appliances must be placed in the south east of the room.
9- Fridge should be placed in the north west portion of the room.
10- Television sets should never be placed in the south east of the rooms.

Useful Vaastu Tips

1- Our head should be towards the east or south while sleeping.
2- One should never sleep under exposed beam as it brings ill fortune.
3- We should face toward east while praying to God.
4- We should face towards east while studying.
5- We should face towards east while cooking food.
6- Shoes and slippers should not scattered all over the house.
7- Don't keep dirty clothes with the washed clothes.
8- There should be no noise while opening the doors and windows especially the entrance door.To remove the noise keep the hinges well oiled.
9- A picture of lord Ganesha and Saraswati is good in study room.
10- The house should always be kept neat and clean and all the wastage etc should be dumped in the west of the house.
11-We should never construct circular stairs in the house.
12-All the things should be properly placed in the house to ensure good luck.
13-Keep cash and jewelery in the locker which opens in the north.
14-Comb and other beauty aids should be kept neatly at the right place.
15-We should always wear neat and clean clothes while working.
16-We should change the bed sheets during day time.
17-It is very auspicious to see and water the rising sun after taking bath in the morning.
18-Blue bed-sheet should never be used in the house.
19-There should be separate towel for every member in the family.
20-To prevent the house from evil eyes seven green chillies and lemon should be hung at the main entrance of the house , shop etc.
